Experiential Learning: Highlight of the Month
As a progressive and holistic school, we believe that hands-on experiences are crucial for deepening students’ understanding and engagement with the world around them. Our commitment to experiential learning allows students to step outside the classroom and immerse themselves in real-world environments, fostering critical thinking, curiosity, and a love for discovery. This month, we proudly showcased a variety of enriching visits that not only broadened students’ knowledge but also inspired them to apply what they’ve learned in meaningful ways.
VGP Marine Kingdom
Excitement filled the air as our Vedanta Academy students dived into a world of marine wonders at VGP Marine Kingdom! India’s first and largest walkthrough aquarium, VGP Marine Kingdom, offered our students a mesmerizing journey through its five distinct aquatic zones ranging from the dense Rainforest to the mysterious depths of the Deep Ocean. They explored the rich diversity of sea life, from colorful tropical fish to fascinating creatures like sharks, rays, eels and more. This immersive experience not only brought their classroom lessons to life but also sparked their curiosity and deepened their understanding of marine ecosystems, conservation, and the fragile beauty of our oceans.
Akshayakalpa Farms
Another remarkable opportunity awaited our students of Grades 6 & 7 at Akshayakalpa Farms, where they enjoyed an immersive experience that deepened their understanding of organic farming and its positive impact on the environment and communities. They gained valuable insights into sustainable agriculture and the production of A2 milk from pure Desi cows, and AkshayaKalpa’s transformative role in farmer’s lives through innovative technologies and eco-friendly practices. Engagingin fun activities and games, students not only enriched their knowledge but also created memorable moments, making the visit both educational and enjoyable.
Pre-Primary Field Trip
On September 13, 2024, our Pre-Primary students embarked on an exciting field trip to Guindy National Park, with 74 participants from PP 2 and PP 3. This outing aimed to provide authentic experiential learning opportunities, allowing children to connect their classroom knowledge with the natural world. As they explored the park, students eagerly observed various animals and their habitats, fostering curiosity and appreciation for wildlife. The day was filled with joy and discovery, making it a memorable experience for all involved.
Gramathil Oru Naal
Students of Grades 8, 9 & 11 at Vedanta Academy students had a memorable and enriching experience during their visit to “Gramathil Oru Naal” at Irumbuli Village, Melmaruvathoor. Surrounded in a peaceful, green village setting, they enjoyed traditional sports and activities that connected them to the rich culture and heritage of rural Tamil Nadu. Beyond the fun, this visit offered valuable experiential learning, giving students a unique glimpse into village life and fostering an appreciation for the simplicity and beauty of traditional lifestyles. It was a day filled with joy, learning, and meaningful engagement with our roots!
Best Teacher Award of the Year 2023-24
We are thrilled to announce that Ms. P. Kalyani, our dedicated and passionate Math teacher at Vedanta Academy, has been honored with the Best Teacher Award by the West Chennai Sahodaya Cluster Schools, for the Academic Year 2023-24. This well-deserved recognition highlights her unwavering commitment to inspiring and nurturing young minds through her love for mathematics. Ms. Kalyani’s enthusiasm and innovative teaching methods have made a significant impact on her students, helping them discover the joy of learning and problem-solving. We are proud to celebrate Ms. Kalyani and her incredible contribution to our school community! Here’s a small interview of her:
Ben Shiraj ranked 9th in World Skate Games Italia 2024
We are immensely proud to celebrate the achievement of Ben Shiraj, one of our talented students, who recently represented Vedanta Academy at the World Skate Games Italia 2024 in Italy. Ben showcased his incredible skills in Speed Slalom Skating, securing the impressive 9th rank worldwide with a record time of 4.273 seconds! His dedication and passion for the sport have brought honor to our academy, and we congratulate him on this remarkable accomplishment. Keep shining, Ben!
Decathlon Sports Utsav
On September 21, 2024, Vedanta Academy buzzed with excitement during the Sports Utsav, hosted in collaboration with Decathlon Nolambur for the first time. Children participated in a range of thrilling activities, such as Bow and Arrow, Shoot Out, Jump High, Fast Tent, and Campfire Games, all designed to promote teamwork and physical fitness. The air was filled with laughter and cheers as children of all ages showcased their skills and created lasting memories. Every participant was rewarded with gifts, including certificates, medals, drawing books, and gift vouchers, ensuring that the spirit of the day lingered on. Sports Utsav 2024 was a remarkable celebration for kids with their families, setting the stage for many more exciting events to come!
Teacher’s Day
On Teachers’ Day, Vedanta Academy celebrated the invaluable contributions of our educators with heartfelt enthusiasm. During a special assembly, students expressed their gratitude through songs, dances, speeches, and skits, highlighting the profound impact teachers have on their lives. A humorous student skit about classroom interactions brought light-hearted moments, reflecting the love and bond shared between students and teachers. Classrooms were adorned with colorful decorations, and students presented handmade cards as tokens of appreciation. Teachers, dressed in coordinated colors, looked elegant and professional as they joined in a surprise ramp walk, which was met with cheers and laughter. The day was filled with joyful moments, creating an atmosphere of warmth, respect, and admiration for the guiding hands of our educators.
Vinayagar Chaturthi
Students and teachers of Vedanta Academy came together to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with joy and devotion ushering in blessings of wisdom, prosperity, and new beginnings. The vibrant celebration featured our students dressed beautiful in traditional attire, creating a festive atmosphere. Here are some of the highlights of the celebration.
Onam
At Vedanta Academy, our Onam celebration was a vibrant showcase of cultural heritage and community spirit. The festivities began with students adorning the school with colorful pookalam, intricate floral designs that symbolize prosperity. Traditional music filled the air as students performed folk dances, capturing the essence of Kerala’s rich culture. A special assembly featured speeches highlighting the significance of Onam, making the celebration particularly meaningful for the many children and staff members who celebrate Onam or hail from Kerala. The only thing missing? The traditional Onam Sadhya! (We’ll save that feast for next year). Nonetheless, the event strengthened the bonds within our academy and created lasting memories for everyone involved.
